Janitorial Workers in Philadelphia and 32BJ Union officials hold Solidarity Action to Demand RESPECT for Workers

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A delegation of janitorial workers and 32BJ SEIU union officials delivered a letter to One Liberty Place on Thursday, October 26th, to demand the Mann family respect janitors’ right to guaranteed paid sick days and a voice on the job. 

The German-based Mann family has substantial ownership or control of buildings in San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, and Philadelphia. The delegation gathered in solidarity with workers in Houston, Texas, who lost their union and benefits when building management replaced a union contractor with a non-union contractor. The letter was signed by 14 out of 17 Philadelphia council members including, Majority Leader Cherelle Parker demanding the Mann family step in and make sure their buildings in the United States are cleaned by contractors who provide important benefits like guaranteed paid sick days.
