Yes, today is Election Day, the day you choose the Municipal elected officials for the City of Philadelphia and choose ballot questions to amend and/or update, or not, the governing laws of the city.
Now, my people, the folks of this town, we are at another crossroads where we do or don’t participate!!! You have the naysayers who feel voting doesn’t matter! Those who say, “There’s nothing in it for me!”
Those who care about nothing until the nothing kicks them in the (butt) behind and then.
There are those who are lost! So please, if you are not one of them, get out and do your civic duty and vote! In these days and times, you must exercise your right and vote because more than ever, more than ever, more than ever, your life depends on it!!!
Look around. If you don’t see the “the Perils of life” being more challenging, more devastating, and more destructive than ever before, then God bless you. Our politics, our new laws, and these new folks who are destroying and dismantling the Democracy that once pushed the pursuits of Life, Liberty, and having a way to enjoy happiness, love, caring, and understanding with hopefulness are gone with the wind. People of reason, come alive, wake back up! Don’t let the madness, sickness, and hatefulness be the new order of the day! We are genuine, bold, courageous, lovingly powerful people who want a city, state, country, and world that provides a way of life that offers everyone the ability to grow and prosper without the destructive, hateful barriers being pushed forward by these selfish, mean-spirited, self-absorbed political scavengers polluting the democratic process!!! Let’s get rid of the trash and prevent them from ever coming into our political structures again!!!
To close, in our October 24, 2023, Scoop USA edition, Thera Martin wrote about “Sid Booker Way.” This powerful article about an extraordinary individual, Mr. Sid Booker, would have been a perfect opportunity for you to get to know many of the candidates for today’s election. It’s worth mentioning again because you could have questioned, interacted with, and heard many dynamic stories about politics and politicians. You would have loved camaraderie and received life lessons in political and community networking. You had the old movers and shakers, like former Sheriff John Green, former Commissioner Sylvester Johnson, former Congressman Chaka Fattah, the First Black State Democratic Chair Sharif Street, one of our longtime premier businessmen, Ducky Birts, and the list goes on and on! Pattie Jackson moderated the program and did a phenomenal job moving everything along!
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is so important to share this with you because Brother Sid Booker is one of those rare, unique, prestigious individuals who has the unique ability, the back-in-day wherewithal in a moment’s notice to bring together practically the whole election choices, the history in the making, individuals to an event renaming the 4600 North Broad St. to “Sid Booker Way.” Yes, he did it his way! I hope my comments make it clear to you that it was clearly God-filled, Godsent, and an experience for those who want to use the past to propel into the future!
