On March 8th, 2022, women from diverse backgrounds and cultures joined Councilmember David Oh for a local celebration of International Women’s Day at City Hall. “Today marks a call for action for accelerating women’s advancement and equality,” said Councilmember Oh. This delightful gathering highlighted strong women that inspire others through their respective careers, community work, and day-to-day lives. This event also commemorated those who serve others through non-profits, corporations, and foundations that improve the quality of life for other women.
Guests first gathered at the Mayor’s Reception Room and then moved to the Conversation Hall for a networking session and lunch. Emmy Award winner, Monique Braxton, hosted this event. Guest speakers included
The nationally recognized twins from Philadelphia, Dr. Delena Wardlaw and Dr. Elana McDonald, who are also known as the “Twin Sister Docs”
Liz Moore, a New York Times bestselling author,
Iryna Mazur, the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Philadelphia;
Mireya Lumbreras, a public relations executive at GOYA, and
Philadelphia City Representative Sheila Hess
The program also included music and dance performances from the Zyma Duet and Brilliant DanceSport Studio.
