In Business? then come out for MED Week

Minority Enterprise Development Week is right around the corner. If you are in business, a small business owner, a Mom and Pop business, a family operated business, or even a larger business, MED Week events are where you need to be.
The 38th Annual Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week 2022, will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 to Friday, October 7 by Department of Commerce’s Office of Economic Opportunity.
MED Week provides education, resources and connections for minority-owned business to grow.
Attendees can register for 40+ events held by partner organizations city-wide. They can attend educational workshops and traditional webinars to grow their business. They can build connections and networks with governmental officials, subject matter advisors and more. They can meet like-minded business owners, and exchange resources. They can celebrate minority enterprises, advocates and champions.
The events will cover topics such as social media marketing, how to retain employees, accounting basics and so much more. Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week is a national observance that recognizes the outstanding achievements of Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs). The event also honors corporations and financial institutions that support minority business development. MED Week was proclaimed by the U.S president in 1983.
This year’s 38th annual Philadelphia MED Week will equip diverse minority-owned businesses with resources and connections to help them grow. Throughout the week, organizations from across the region will host hybrid networking events, panel discussions, and workshops focused on this year’s theme: Forging the Future: Growing Generational Wealth – “This is How We Do It!”
Business owners are the heartbeat of Philadelphia’s economy. Join us as we forge the future and support minority-owned businesses with equitable capacity-building efforts!

There’s the MED Week Kick-Off Breakfast Awards Ceremony, Monday, Oct. 3, 2022
8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Business owners can join the Office of Economic Opportunity to celebrate and network with diverse minority enterprises, advocates and champions as we kick off the 38th annual Philadelphia MED Week! Masks are required.
Diverse Chambers Coalition MED Week Convening you can join the Diverse Chambers Coalition of Greater Philadelphia for an event where business owners can network with each other and hear the results from the latest commerce-focused survey released by the Diverse Chambers. The date of this event is Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.
More Than Just a Paycheck: How to Engage and Retain Employees. This event takes place Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, 10:30 a.m. to noon
Join the Department of Commerce’s Office of Business Services for a panel discussion on how to engage and retain employees in the current workforce climate.
Another great event business owners should consider participating in is the Pivoting to Procurement: Certifications. Business owners join Temple University Small Business Development Center for a webinar that will help business owners understand the world of procurement. This session will focus on certifications that can increase access to opportunities, particularly for women and minority-owned businesses.
Honest to goodness, if you are a business person or someone who dreams of going into business, you do not want to miss MED Week 2022 in Philadelphia.
