I know, I know, here we go again, and some of you just don’t want to hear it. But here it is anyway. In the City of Philadelphia when you are at public places, such as a supermarket, a roller skating rink, a library, the bank, etc., you must mask up. You must wear a face mask to protect yourself and others. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, confirmed Covid cases are on the rise again in our city, thus the decision to put the mask mandate back in place.
I just know some folks are flaming over this move. There are those who never wore a facemask at all throughout the pandemic. Maybe some of those people didn’t get Covid. Amazing. However, there are so many television newscasts over the last almost two and ½ years now where viewers saw “never vaxers” laying in hospital beds on ventilators or with oxygen struggling to breathe and talk and say, “I was so wrong. I should have gotten vaccinated. This Covid thing is real, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
It still amazes me that–after witnessing millions of people die from Covid worldwide, anyone would think this pandemic is a hoax or orchestrated by the government. That simply is not true. Way too many lives have been lost for that to be true, and all kinds of people, from famous folk to people’s names you never heard of, contracted the disease and died from it.
I still have friends to this day who have not been vaccinated. In the cases of most of my friends that chose not to vaccinate, they are in their 50s, 60s, or early seventies. They are people who live alone or where it’s just two people in the home, and they’re not out in the public, running all over town, trying to find a party, going to a concert and things of that nature. They stay to themselves, and when they do go out–they do wear a mask.
Die-hard SCOOP USA Media Newspaper readers know that in the last 6-weeks or so, I wrote a column where I stated that I am still wearing my face mask, even as I’ve seen all these mandates in various states dropped. I have said it before, and I will say it again, I don’t do what everybody else does. Particularly in a situation of a pandemic, I still haven’t heard the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Dr. Anthony Fauci, or President Biden announced that the pandemic is over. I haven’t heard that.
