Veterans from Chester and surrounding communities gathered at the Annual “Luncheon Celebration” presented by Honorable State Representative Brian Kirkland (D-159th Legislative District) and his staff. The luncheon, sponsored by Everest Medical Group, was held at Lighthouse Hall in Eddystone, Pennsylvania.
The event’s Master of Ceremony Shakur Abdul-Ali, NCIOC Non-Commission Officer in Charge, thanked all the veterans in attendance for their service to our nation. Abdul-Ali, a United States Army Veteran, enlisted in 1982 and served 30 years combined on active duty and in the reserves. Serving multiple tours of duty, Abdul -Ali attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and held the ranks of Acting First Sergeant, as well as NCOIC, receiving his last orders of retirement on August 22, 2011. He also retired from the United States Postal Service that same year. For his service, Abdul-Ali received the Meritorious Service Medal; The Army Achievement Medal with One Silver Oak Leaf Cluster; Good Conduct Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
