Chester usually plays host to an Annual Mother’s Day Parade, which it has not been able to do for the second year in a row. Residents and visitors alike look forward to the visual spectacular that is Chester’s Mother’s Day Parade. Due to the global pandemic, and in an effort to keep the community safe, some community leaders provided Mother’s Day meals and treats to honor our mothers.
In lieu of the traditional parade, Bishop Richard Knox and the gentlemen from the congregation of Abundant Grace and Mercy Church prepared a scrumptious meal for mothers. All of the items on the menu were cooked and served by the men in the congregation. The meals consisted of pan-seared lamb, beef short ribs, Parmigiano stuffed meatballs, pork spareribs, ham, baked and fried chicken, shrimp crab legs, Chilean sea bass. There were sides of potato salad, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, cabbage, collard greens, seafood salad, and yellow rice with gravy. That was quite a feast, and the ladies were invited to choose any four items from the menu. Those gentlemen are very talented in the kitchen.
Life In Christ Food Ministries Team was out on Sunday, as usual feeding the masses. The ministry also handed out Mother’s Day treats for those ladies in attendance. This group is as dedicated as they come. Always on point every Sunday whether it’s a holiday or not.
Both events followed CDC guidelines and all meals were grab and go. What a wonderful way to say “Happy Mother’s Day.” Chester thanks all of you for your commitment to our residents. It’s needed here and appreciated more than people say.
