The price gouging in our American healthcare system is insane! Healthcare costs are so excessive it’s literally dividing the country between the Haves and Have Nots regarding affordability and accessibility to quality healthcare.
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS.gov) reported that “U.S. health care spending grew 4.6 percent in 2019, reaching $3.8 trillion or $11,582 per person.” That $3.8 trillion in healthcare costs account for 17.7% of America’s entire Gross Domestic Product!
President Barack Obama had the foresight and fortitude to try and make healthcare more affordable for low-income Americans and citizens without healthcare through the passing of his Affordable Healthcare Act (also known as Obamacare). President Obama recognized the importance of affordable healthcare because if left unchecked, our extravagant healthcare system can implode America’s economic stability. Ballooning healthcare costs, if left unchecked, will eventually cause a financial catastrophe for our country and possibly the ruin of America.
