Grammy Musical Group Kool & The Gang Benefit Concert Raised $30K for Universal Family of Schools

PHILADELPHIA, PA, September 8, 2021—Parx Casino hosted an “Evening of Educational to Excellence Benefit Concert” on behalf of Universal Family of Schools, featuring Grammy Awarding Winning, two-time American Music awardee, and Music Business Association awardee Kool & the Gang on Sunday, September 5th. This inaugural event in partnership with Mr. Kenny Gamble and Mrs. Faatimah Gamble and their non-profit, Universal Companies raised $30k for the Universal Family of Schools. 

Universal Companies is a not-for-profit community development and education management corporation formed under the direction of one of Philadelphia’s greatest talents, world-renowned lyricist, composer, producer, Mr. Kenneth Gamble and his wife, Mrs. Faatimah continue to serve as Chairman and Co-Chairwoman. Since 1993, Universal has built the capacity to challenge and reverse the effects of urban decline and has become one of the largest and most successful community revitalization movements in the history of the city of Philadelphia. Universal manages seven K-12 charter schools in the city of Philadelphia with over 4,300 students enrolled. 

Universal Family of Schools’ educational mission is to provide an unparalleled high-quality education to all students in a safe and nurturing environment, which prepares scholars to attend higher institutions of learning, entrepreneurship and/or the globalized workforce that leads to a sustainable career in the 21st century and build altruistic alumni who contribute to the transformation of their communities as future leaders and positive members of society. 

Parx Casino believes in the mission of Universal and has been a corporate partner for over five years. As part of Parx’s commitment, Kool & the Gang performed in front of a live audience at the Casino’s Xcite Center. The concert was exciting, electrifying, engaging and all the Center for Disease Control’s protocols were followed, and every attendee donned a mask.
