Former PA State Senator Milton T. Street has made transition at 81

Reading Time: 2 minutes

T. Milton Street was the kind of personality that was large. He was highly intelligent, but could be loud if need be. He was boisterous and passionate and loved his family, his city, his friends, politics, and community activism very much. Milton Street was a giver. He was a doer. He didn’t just talk about it. He was about it.

T. Milton Street was one of the big brothers to a former Mayor of Philadelphia, John F. Street. He was also the uncle to current PA State Senator Sharif Street, Esq. In my mind, Milton Street was one of the heroes of Philadelphia during his heyday, first as a small business owner being a vendor, to his days of entering politics and doing a lot of good work for everyday working citizens, low-income people, and poor folk. If you didn’t like that, then you didn’t like T. Milton Street.

In my opinion, his most impactful time in politics was during the time frame when I was just learning the ropes of working in broadcast radio in 1979 and 1980 and getting my feet wet at SCOOP USA as a brand-new columnist. (Thank you, Sonny Driver). The Street family name first became known back in the late seventies and early 1980s. From then until now, the Street name has been a name to respect, admire and look to for help when it came to getting things done in Philadelphia and throughout Pennsylvania.

It saddens me to have to share with you the following statement from Senator Sharif Street that he released on November 28, 2022.
