Credit repair is her thing. She got into the business years ago because she was one of those people who had bad credit. Tamiya Robles had that “aha” moment when you look in the mirror, and you say, “No more. I will not live like this with bad credit anymore.”
The name of Ms. Robles’ business is “FixMyCredit- Now850.com.” The business has been in existence in Maryland for about three years. However, they service clients nationwide. New clients are joining the FixMyC- reditNow850.com website every week seeking her services.
“For years, I was financially irresponsible,” stated Tamiya Robles. “Because of that, I was obviously limited to the things that I could get such as a home and a car, credit cards, and things like that. I learned how to find ways around that, but as I started to mature a little, things began to get a bit more difficult. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me, was this: I decided it was time for me to purchase a home.
I was renting a house in Maryland, and the landlord increased the rent from $1,950.00 to $2,250.00 a month. I could afford that, but I asked myself the question, “Why, I didn’t own it?” It’s not like we were building equity or anything. That situation encouraged me to do what I needed to do in order to clean up my credit. I wanted to learn everything that I could about money and finances. I didn’t want to be scared of money anymore. I read everything I could get my hands on about credit repair and became a self-taught credit repair guru if you will. I studied online, purchased books, read books at the library, read articles in magazines about credit repair, and even watched documentaries on the subject. No stone was left unturned when it came to the subject of credit repair”.
Amazingly, what Tamiya says she discovered was mastering the subject of credit repair. She cleaned up her own personal credit, increased her credit score high enough to qualify for credit cards, purchase new cars and a nice home. After experiencing her own personal success with credit repair, Tamiya looked to members of her family that she knew could use some assistance getting their credit cleaned up also. “A lot of people, even people in my family, who already had money and knew how to manage money, were ignorant to credit repair and different avenues of how you can go about cleaning up your credit.”
In a nutshell, the credit industry is built to hold down the poor man and uplift the one percent. Many of our black and brown people have no clue. We’ve always been told if something goes on your credit report, “Don’t worry. Just wait the seven years, and the negative item will disappear from
your credit report.” Unfortunately, that’s just not true. A blemish on your credit report does not just disappear. You have to work to get those negative statements off your credit report. The credit bureaus are not going to just check everyone’s credit report at the
seven-year mark. Getting all this knowledge for myself, I realized that this information is not difficult. I wanted to share the information with my people. Not just black and brown people but poor people. The financially suppressed people.
Tamiya Robles continued, “Once you gain the knowledge and have financial freedom, it’s like the sky is the limit. Our people need that, especially now more than ever, and that’s what really inspired me to start making this into a business. I fix their credit and educate them at the same time.“
After spending hours and hours working for free, helping family and friends and then later friends of friends to get their credit cleaned up. It hit Tamiya, that for all the time she was spending doing this credit repair thing, she needed to create a business plan. Set up some pricing, get a website, start marketing, and offer her knowledge for a fee, and that’s exactly what she did.
Thirty-six months into the credit repair business, and it is still growing, Tamiya Robles says she knows she made the right decision when she decided to start her company. Ms. Robles advises her valued clients to follow the recipe for success, or the credit repair effort will not work. “Without the client following the instructions that I give them, my efforts won’t work. I tell all my clients not to run their credit or their social security number while I’m working on their credit. If you want your credit score to increase, you can’t be out there at car dealerships, having sales reps run your credit, or it will drop your credit score.
Not only does Ms. Robles do credit repair, but she also writes Do-It-Yourself e-books, teaches clients techniques on how to apply for and obtain credit cards with high credit limits, teaches others how to start a run a successful credit repair company, and most recently, Tamiya launched a student loan debt consolidation and forgiveness program for public/government-funded loans.
