Fighting for DEMOCRACY: Some Republican law makers still trying to get Philly’s D.A. Impeached while Krasner supporters say Hell No

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Some Republicans in Harrisburg may want to see Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner gone–but Krasner seems to be getting a groundswell of support from voters in Philadelphia who feel differently. Plus, after a fair and honest election, twice for Larry Krasner, how can republicans who aren’t even from Philadelphia try to stick their noses in our local elections and tell us who we can have–or who we can’t have for our elected officials.

The three Republican Pennsylvania lawmakers who are the ringleaders for this attempt to impeach Philly’s D.A. are State Rep. Josh Kail, who represents the 15th House district, and State Rep. Torren Ecker, who represents the 193rd district, and State Rep. Tom O’Neal, who represents the 48th district. Their goal is to impeach Philadelphia’s D. A. over the high crime rate in the city. They are also condemning a new report showing Philadelphia did not give all its crime data to the FBI for the year 2021.

“In Larry Krasner’s Philadelphia, this is unsurprising,” Pennsylvania state Reps. Josh Kail, Torren Ecker, and Tim O’Neal, said in a joint statement to Fox News Digital on Tuesday. “When there is lawlessness and unchecked crime occurring everyday, one can only imagine it is hard to keep track of.”

The lawmakers were reacting to a report detailing that Philadelphia failure to share information about three months of crime data to the FBI National Incident-Based Reporting System last year. 2021 is when Philadelphia hit its highest number of homicides in its history. Local police officials say the city implementing a new crime reporting system is what created the issue with the data not being one hundred percent completed.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, to hold Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner in Contempt of the state legislative body for failing to respond to a subpoena requesting documents from Krasner’s office. The House voted 162-38 to hold him in Contempt, including numerous Democrats. The subpoena stems from an ongoing investigation by a House committee into Krasner and Philadelphia’s gun violence epidemic. It is called the House Committee on Restoring Law and Order–which is running in tandem with a Republican-led effort to impeach Krasner.
