Faith in the Storm

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Lord, We Thank You For Your Peace Amid The Storm. Amen.

The story is about a little boy crossing the ocean with his father, who was captain of the ship when they ran into a storm. The waves tossed the ship about like a cork, and everyone was stricken with fear. But the boy sat still, with his eyes directed toward a particular spot. He sat there quite unperturbed as the waves were dashing about the ship. Someone asked him if he were not afraid, and he answered: “I have my eye on that window, and through that window, I can see the bridge, and on that bridge is my father. My father is the ship’s captain and has survived many storms.”

And the same day, when the evening came, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they sent the multitude away, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also, with him, other little ships. And a great storm of wind arose, and the waves beat into the ship so it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? (Mark 4:35-41 KJV)

When the storm rages, don’t give up. Just ask your Heavenly Father to stand by you. Yes, in the storm, don’t give up on GOD. He will carry you through. Stay on the boat and realize your survival is in your anchor.

That’s why Douglas Miller sat down and wrote: “Though the storms of life keep raging in my life. And sometimes, it’s hard to tell the night from the day. Still, the hope that lies within assures me as I keep my eyes on the distant storm. I realize that sometimes in this life, we’re gonna be tossed by the wind and the waves, but in the arms of GOD, I have an anchor that keeps me steadfast and unmovable in spite of the tide. But if the storms don’t cease and the winds keep blowing, my soul’s been anchored in the LORD!”
