Faith in the Storm

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Lord, we Thank you for Your peace in the midst of the storm. Amen.
The story is told of a little boy who was crossing the ocean with his father, who was captain of the ship when they ran into a storm. The waves tossed the ship about like a cork, and everyone was stricken with fear. But the boy sat still, with his eyes directed toward a certain spot. He sat there quite unperturbed as the ship was being dashed about by the waves. Someone asked him if he were not afraid, and he answered: “I have my eye on that window, and through that window, I can see the bridge, and on that bridge is my father. My father is the captain of the ship, and he has taken it through many storms.”
There is another example … “And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” (Mark 4:35-41 KJV)
When the storm rages, don’t give up. Just ask your Heavenly Father to stand by you. Yes, in the storm, don’t give up on GOD. He will carry you through the storm. Stay on the boat and realize that your survival is in your anchor.
That’s why Douglas Miller sat down and wrote:
“Though the storms of life keep raging in my life. And sometimes it’s hard to tell the night from the day. Still, the hope that lies within is reassured
I know He’ll lead me safely to
That blessed place He has prepared
realize that sometimes in this life
We’re gonna be tossed by the waves
And the currents that seem so fierce
One thing I like
But in the word of God, I’ve got an anchor, hallelujah
And it keeps me steadfast and unmovable
Despite the tide
But if, if the storms just don’t cease
And just in case the wind keeps on
blowing in my life
My soul’s been anchored
in the Lord
