In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County (DAP) and Trinity Transitional House, Inc., hosted a vigil in Martin Luther King Park in Chester on Saturday, October 16th. Community members and elected officials gathered at the same site as last year’s event to discuss ways to take action, support survivors, and explore ways of preventing domestic violence. This year’s featured speakers were District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer; Senator John Kane; John Clifford of Green House Project; CMP Radio Host, Christina McIntire; DAP Executive Director, Julie Avalos; and Dawn Belgrave Pierce of Trinity Traditional House, Inc.; Police Commissioner Steven Gretsky; Deputy Police Commissioner Katrina Blackwell; Lisha Long, Chief of Staff for State Representative Brian Kirkland; and members of the Chester Community Coalition were also in attendance to support the community’s efforts and survivors.
