PHILADELPHIA, November 1, 2022 — PECO customers can apply for grants to help pay their winter heating bills through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) starting on November 1. These cash grants of up to $1,000 are available to income-qualified customers and do not need to be paid back.
Last year LIHEAP helped more than 58,000 PECO customers with more than $45 million in financial assistance. LIHEAP is a federally-funded program that helps limited-income households with their home energy bills. However, customers should not wait for winter heating bills to arrive before applying for help – LIHEAP is a first-come, first-served program and is only available until the money runs out.
“As temperatures drop, we know energy bills will increase,” said Patricia King, manager of community engagement for PECO. “We understand that rising energy costs and inflation are impacting our customers, so we urge them to take advantage of programs like LIHEAP now, before winter bills arrive.”
Customers can apply for a LIHEAP grant at www.peco.com/liheap or by calling 800-34-HELP-4.
