PHILADELPHIA, January 19, 2022—Philadelphia City Councilmember Bobby Henon joined Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and residents at Jacobs Playground in Torresdale to announce $880,000 in new funding to renovate Jacobs Playground and Mullins Playground in the North East. Both sites will receive new play equipment, tree plantings, and other critical site safety improvements.
“Philadelphia’s neighborhood parks are playgrounds are vital resources that help families thrive and bring communities together,” said Councilmember Bobby Henon. “I’m grateful to have the opportunity to work with the community at Jacobs and Mullin Playgrounds to provide the safe, modern amenities residents deserve here in District 6 and across the City.”
Jacobs Playground
The $530,000 project to renovate Jacobs Playground will include the installation of new playground equipment and safety surfacing. A revised site layout will include new sidewalks and new site furnishings including benches, picnic tables, and trash bins. A new camera security system will also be installed throughout the site.
