Congressman Dwight Evans opens up New Point Breeze Office

Reading Time: 2 minutes

PHILADELPHIA, October 29, 2022–Congressman Dwight Evans hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of his second district office at 1310 Point Breeze Ave.

Rep. Jordan Harris, who already has an office on Point Breeze Ave, briefly detailed the importance of someone like Congressman Evans having an office in the Point Breeze vicinity. “When you were first elected, we walked up and down Point Breeze Ave., and we talked about all the things that could happen in this community if there were significant investments. When I first got elected, I put my office on Point Breeze Ave because I thought it was important that we brought more people to the Avenue by having a state office here. My initial thought was ‘more people would walk here, and then it would help spur development. It’s a great sign to see–not only will you have a state office because my office is right up the street (1414 Point Breeze Ave), but now you’ll have a federal office here.

When I first got elected, we talked about how Congressman Evans redeveloped Ogontz Ave. He brought PennDOT and the Wine & Spirits to Ogontz Ave, and because of that you had foot traffic. Because of the foot traffic, businesses wanted to be on that corridor. So now you have two offices, a state office and a federal office, as anchors here. You have three government agencies, right here on Point Breeze Ave, where I hope this foot traffic will entice people to want to bring businesses, right here to the Avenue,” said Rep. Jordan Harris, as he praised Congressman Evans for his expansion move to Point Breeze.

In response to Rep. Harris’ comments, Congressman Evans stated: “Jordan has laid out what I always believed we could do in these communities, not just here in Point Breeze, but all across the city, state, and nation. By coming to Point Breeze, I wanted to do what Jordan did, which was using the tools of the federal government, like the state government, in the investment. Infusion of dollars to the people is extremely important. Neither he nor I could do it without you.”

The main phone number for the Point Breeze office is 215-254-3400. Evans’ Northwest Philadelphia office is located at 7174 Ogontz Ave, and the phone number is 215-276-0340.
