State and local officials gathered at a press conference in Chester on Tuesday morning (January 11) to speak about the continued success of the 2020 program, “Chester Partners for Safe Neighborhoods.” The program aimed at reducing gun violence was developed by Swarthmore College alumni David Kennedy.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro joined Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland, and members of the Delaware County Council to discuss the progress of the Chester Partners for Safe Neighborhoods program since its inception in October 2020. The alliance between local, state, and federal agencies is showing immense progress since its inception.
The program, a model of those implemented in Philadelphia and Boston, operates by calling on those instrumental in criminal activity, advising that law enforcement is aware of who they are and the criminality they’re involved in and giving them a choice. If you allow us, we’ll help you. If you force our hand, we’ll stop you.
