PHILADELPHIA, PA – JULY 9, 2022 – Comcast announced a $20,000 grant to Philadelphia’s oldest Latino organization, El Concilio, along with a surprise donation of 160 laptops to students who use Comcast’s LIFT Zone at Concilio. The donations were presented at Concilio’s 2022 Hispanic Fiesta.
The two-day regional celebration at Penn’s Landing features music, dance, entertainment, food and artisan crafts from nearly all Latin American countries. Concilio was one of Comcast’s first Internet Essentials partners after its launch over a decade ago and now hosts one of Comcast’s LIFT Zones, where Philadelphia residents can access the Internet for free at Concilio.
“Affordable, readily available internet is key to strengthening quality of life in our communities,” said Concilio’s Executive Director Adonis Banegas. “We were one of Comcast’s first partners when the Internet Essentials program first began, and we are now proud to host one of Comcast’s LIFT Zones. We’ve committed to increasing internet adoption in Philadelphia, and Comcast has been an invaluable partner in doing so.”
An informational session was included at the Hispanic Fiesta, encouraging Latino Philadelphia residents to sign up for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides a $30/month credit toward internet bills.
“Comcast has a steadfast commitment to improve internet adoption by encouraging Philadelphians to take advantage of Internet Essentials and the Affordable Connectivity Program,” said Gabriel Torres, Vice President of Marketing of Comcast’s Freedom Region. “By working with partners like Concilio in the community and at events like the Hispanic Festival, we can help ensure everyone takes advantage of the resources available to connect to the Internet and thrive in today’s digital economy.”
During the festival, attendees learned how to enroll in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and Comcast’s Internet Essentials at Comcast’s mobile Xfinity store.
Customers can also visit www.xfinity.com/acp, www.internetessentials.com or call 844-389-4681 for more information and to determine eligibility. A dedicated Enrollment and Support Center is also available from 8AM to 12AM daily, with multi-lingual capabilities to assist anyone interested in the program.
