Civilized?

The Bible says, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1 John 1:8) Do we live in a civilized society? The word civilized defined by dictionary.com means to bring a place or people to a stage of social, cultural, and moral development considered to be more advanced, polite, and well-mannered. Again I ask, do we live in a civilized society? There is so much going on that his question came to mind. Because some of the people in our community do not just sin, they are acting like savages. When you look up savages on dictionary.com, it is an animal or force of nature fierce, violent, and uncontrolled. Also, cruel and vicious; aggressively hostile; uncultivated; primitive; uncivilized.
Some people actually prey on other people when they sell drugs, commit a robbery, commit rape, commit murder… etc. Is this behavior of a civilized person? When our sin spills outside of ourselves and affects others, this is how civil behavior breaks down. The Bible says, “And he said, ‘What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.’” (Mark 7:20-23)
We must develop morally if we want any chance at living and being pleasing to God (Allah). This is a daily fight and struggle. We live in a world that has very, very, very little respect for God’s (Allah’s) word, which contains His laws. We have to choose who we are going to follow, God (Allah) or Satan? Let me be clear, I am not suggesting that God (Allah) and Satan are equal. They are not! The Bible says, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions are not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” (1 John 2:15-17) The word of God (Allah) lets us know that Satan was given time to rule. They say, “You are as strong as your weakest link,” so until all people in our community become morally conscious, we must strive to exhibit civilized behavior. The Bible says, “So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” (Colossians 1:10) We who claim to be people of God (Allah), we must strive hard to live up His word 100%. We must be good examples and stand on truth period. We cannot compromise the truth, or negotiate with sinners or hang around ungodly people doing ungodly things and think that this will not diminish our morals. The Bible says, “Do not be deceived, ‘Bad company ruins good morals.’” (1 Corinthians 15:33) Who your friends are matters! The company that we keep matters! Please do not get me wrong because I am not saying that you should judge the actions of others, but if the actions are not pleasing to God (Allah), that is an environment you should not be in. Remember the saying, “Birds of a feather, flock together,” but do not tempt your faith! Do not tempt God (Allah) because He gives us a spirit to discern, and we have to use it.
The goal is to become civilized! People purchasing people is not right! People killing people, except in self-defense, is not right! People causing any harm to people and not atoning is not right! We, Black people in America have been suffering for hundreds of years and the things that we suffer from today are not new. On the back of The Final Call and prior to 1975, in Muhammad Speak newspaper, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad states under What The Muslims Want, “We want an immediate end to the police brutality and mob attacks against the so-called Negro throughout the United States.” We have and will continue to suffer until we first submit to God (Allah) and stop being lawbreakers, then we need to do for ourselves. We need to fall in love with doing good! We need to fall in love with the truth! We need to know that we are nothing without God (Allah), and we need His protection, guidance, and forgiveness 24/7. The Bible says, “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:5:8)
The Bible says, “Since it is written ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’” (1 Peter 1:16) The Bible says, “You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) That is civilized! Please ask God (Allah) to give you a mind that wants to be holy and perfect!
