Dr. Horace Strand is seeking unspecified monetary damages in a defamation suit against Zulene Mayfield, Michael Ewall, and the Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living (CRCQL).
In a press conference held on Thursday, January 13th, Strand–the executive director of the Stormwater Authority–wanted to make it clear to the community that the unsubstantiated allegations made against him were without merit.
According to Solicitor Joseph Oxman, the original lawsuit was filed on July 19, 2021, in the Court of Common Pleas, Delaware County for defamation, slander, and libel against Mayfield, Ewall, and CRCQL. The complaint details the defendant’s deliberate fabrication of a story accusing Strand of criminally embezzling funds from CRCQL during his tenure as acting chairman twenty-five years ago.
