If someone were to walk up to you right now and ask, when is the PA Primary Election, who is running for office, where do I register to vote, and where do I go to vote if I want to vote in person–could you answer them?
Considering the primary election is a little less than six weeks away, I think all these are important questions that all adults age 18 and over should be able to answer.
The unfortunate reality is that many people don’t know the answers to any of those questions. Many 18-year-olds are just getting used to the idea that they “think” 18 means they’re grown, but to take on a responsibility such as voting, do 18-year-olds care?
Some do. Others don’t.
Every week except on a rare occasion, the SCOOP publishes a Civics 101 column. The column was created by Sherri Darden, the owner and Publisher of the SCOOP USA Media Community Newspaper, with the goal of educating our readers about the importance of being involved in your community, city, state, and nation. If you are an American Citizen and over the age of 18, certain responsibilities come with that, and voting is one of them. It’s your civic duty to be engaged in the act of voting.
More than 8-weeks ago, in one of my Civics columns, I listed which political seats are up for grabs this year. Die Hard SCOOP USA Readers you’re familiar with it because you read that column I’m referring to. Others may not have seen it, so let’s go back to Civics 101 class on the PA Primary Election in the Spring of 2022.
Below are all the key races and political seats up for grabs that are pertinent to Philadelphia and the immediate area and, of course, statewide races.
