CIVICS 101

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In our continuing effort to educate voters about what to expect on the ballot in the Tuesday, November 8, 2022 General Elections, we want to share with our SCOOP Readers what’s at stake in three key states, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Our goal is to do our part to educate and inform would-be voters about the offices up for grabs. As American citizens, its our civic duty to be engaged in the political process, and we want to encourage all eligible voters to do just that.

Let’s start with the state of Delaware. In Delaware, three of the state’s executive offices, attorney general, treasurer and auditor of accounts, will be on the ballot. Each office’s incumbent is running for re-election. Voters will also decide who to send to Washington as Delaware’s lone United States Representative. State Senators in Delaware are also running on General Election day, as well as State Representatives. Delaware has twenty-one senate seats and forty-one state house seats to fill.

You will be asked to show ID to confirm your identity and residency to vote in Delaware. Acceptable forms of ID include but are not limited to Delaware Driver’s license or state ID, U.S. passport, social security card, polling place card, bank statement, utility bill, or mail addressed to the voter at the address where registered. If you don’t have ID, you will be asked to sign an affidavit of affirmation that you are the person listed in the pollbook.
