You did it Philadelphia citizens, Pennsylvania citizens, and citizens from other states that held primary elections on Tuesday, May 17th. Those of you who came out and voted or who voted early, congratulations on doing the right thing and participating in the political process in our country. As United States Citizens, once you turn the age of 18, you have the right to vote, and it’s your civic duty to vote. In order to vote, you must first register to vote.
In Philadelphia on May 17th, we did not have the kind of overwhelming voter turn-out that I always hope to see, but as political experts repeatedly said over the last year, the Primary and General elections of 2022 are Mid-Term elections, and historically, voter turn-out is lower.
Pennsylvania got nationwide media coverage prior to primary election day–and on election day–because who has the upper hand in the United States Senate is one of the things at stake. In the keystone state, the gloves came off as a line of Republicans campaigned against each other for the seat. Dr. Mehmet Oz is ahead of Dave McCormick in that hotly contested race. Dr. Mehmet Oz has the support of Donald Trump, and it’s believed that’s one of the reasons he’s holding strong numbers, even as this column is being written. Oz is also doing well, I think, because of all his years on national television with his “Dr. Oz” program. Some voters really identify with him, and some voters think they know who he is and what he stands for.
