CIVICS 101

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Over 700 polling places are open today, Tuesday, May 17, 2022, to help voters get through the PA Primary Election. Barbara Arnwine, Esq. from the Transformation Justice Coalition, came fired up and ready to state her case for voting during the Get Out The Vote Rally that Black Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity hosted May 9th. It’s “Do or die” time.

Here’s what Barbara Arnwine, Esq. had to say. “If John Lewis were still alive, he would be here, and he would say one thing. Get into good trouble. Vote! He would be saying to every church leader I want you to make sure you tell everybody to go vote. If you were formerly incarcerated, don’t let anybody tell you that you don’t have the right to vote, because you do. You can vote in Pennsylvania. Make sure that you register. Make sure that you vote. You will miss the Primary if you are not already a registered voter by this date, but get registered and be ready to vote come November. The vote in this world is everything because if it weren’t, people wouldn’t be spending millions of dollars trying to take the vote away from us. On election day, you have the same power as anybody else in this country. This is the day that everything is even. What counts is you, and the only way you count is when you vote.“

The Transformation Justice Coalition is a nonpartisan, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization formed in 2015 by renowned Civil Rights Leader Barbara R. Arnwine. They seek to be a catalyst for transformative institutional changes that bring about justice and equality in the United States and abroad.
