Chester Township to get a new Skate Park

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Delco Skatepark Coalition presented a $4000 donation to Chester Township at the July 7th Council meeting. Despite being home to more than half a million residents, Delaware County boast just three small skate parks, located in Chichester, Havertown, and Radnor.

In 2020, Stacey Olkowski, a mother of 3-launched an initiative to increase the number of skate parks in Delaware County. Spurred on by the pandemic, Olkowski set out on a mission–and two years later, Olkowski and members of the Delco Skatepark Coalition are finally seeing their efforts come to fruition. Chester Township is getting a new 3000-square-foot concrete skatepark at Worrilow Park.

Olkowski said, “We’ve been doing a lot of work with local townships, meeting with township officials, talking to parks and recreation committees, and basically, just trying to get some buy-in and some interest from these different communities if they want a park and if they have room for a park too.”
