It was the city’s first large-scale outdoor festival following the shutdown caused by the global pandemic, and judging from the throngs of Chester residents who came out to support the event, it was an absolute success. Families, friends, and neighbors joyfully greeted one another, most just ecstatic to be socializing.
Attendees took seats and were entranced and transported by the spiritual tunes of the Gospel Disciples. A DJ kept the music playing between live performances.
Local songbird Tyra Starr’s delivery of several old school favorites had folks dancing in the isles. The audience was treated to the melodic voice of songstress, Shonce. It was definitely a very special treat. The formances gave the crowd a long-awaited musical elixir of tunes from various genres and eras. It was apparent from the shouts, applause, and smiles that everyone enjoyed themselves.
Vendors lined the avenue showcasing a variety of foods, beauty products, and other products creating, a family-friendly environment on the main street in Chester’s business district. Participating vendors were Community Baptist Church, Big Var’s Water Ice, Kera’s Soulfood Hands, Nerd’s Family Kitchen, All Wrapped Up, Garden of Hasan Body &Hair Care, Be Jeweled By Ke, B Foreal Vegan Foods, Good Sips, Siddiq’s Real Water Ice, and TB Apparel.
Resources were available for those in need of information from SilverCare, EDSI, CMC/PA Unites Against Covid, State Police, IBX, Health Partners, Cigna, Keystone First, PA Voters Registration Chester Initiative, Foundation of Delaware County, and Senator John Kane’s Office.
Residents and visitors alike enjoyed the festive atmosphere of the event hosted by State Representative Brian Kirkland.
