The Chester Chapter of the NAACP held a Book Drive on Saturday, July 31st, in the parking lot of the Leake Center at 8th and Yarnell Streets in Chester. The philanthropic efforts of the NAACP are well-known throughout the United States, and the Chester branch of the organization is thoroughly invested in the community, providing endless services and support to the residents of the city.
The Book Drive donations benefited The State Correctional Institution (SCI), Wesley House, Norris Street Family Center, and City Team. There were prizes and raffles for donors, of which there were plenty. An abundance of gently used books were collected, which will enrich the lives of readers for years to come.
Reading is part of the foundation of education, and education increases the quality of life.
The NAACP is planning another Book Drive at a future date yet undecided.
