Chapel of Four Chaplains honors ”SHEroes” who serve their country, their community and beyond

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Chapel of the Four Chaplains has a storied history in the City of Philadelphia, starting with its inception. Its original location was 1855 North Broad Street on the campus of Temple University.

Since February 3, 1951, when President Harry A. Truman arrived on the campus of Temple University to dedicate the Chapel of the Four Chaplains, we have been telling the story of the Four Chaplains and encouraging selfless service and interfaith cooperation.

Besides giving opening remarks at the new Chapel, President Truman announced the beginning of a new foundation called the Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation, which celebrated Interfaith Cooperation and encouraged acts of Selfless Service by establishing a Legion of Honor Awards Program. https://fourchaplains.org/about-the-chapel/#:~:text=

On Thursday, March 30th, The Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation celebrated the ”SHEroes” Who Serve Their Country, Their Community, and Beyond. The event’s theme was “Healing Invisible Wounds.” The theme spoke to the highly accomplished honorees and their dedication to the causes they embrace and the endless work required in the communities they serve.

There were thirty-four 2023 Award Recipients. Chapel Honors were given to Dr. Marina Barnett, State Representative Carol Kazeem, Delores Shelton, and Gwendolyn Smith.
