‘Celebration of Champions’ honors Philadelphia’s title-winning youth football and cheer teams

PHILADELPHIA, December 28, 2023—City officials joined the coaches and families of nine Philadelphia champion youth football and cheer teams that secured national and state titles in 2023 to celebrate their successes.

The Blackhawks, Imhotep High School, Lawncrest Lions, and St. Joseph Prep football teams joined cheer squads Kensington Ravens and Uptown Warriors at the Philadelphia Convention Center to be recognized and receive a citation from Mayor Jim Kenney.

“I am so proud of these nine teams for bringing home championship titles this year,” said Mayor Jim Kenney. “Thank you for representing Philadelphia on a national level by displaying your athleticism, dedication, and skill. You bring pride to the entire city. Well done!”

“Congratulations to our champions!” said Managing Director Tumar Alexander. “I want to commend these incredible young people on their commitment to success and thank their coaches and families for their support and encouragement.”
