“Bow Before the King” Christmas Concert Recap

Reading Time: 2 minutes

On Sunday, December 10, True Light Fellowship Church presented its Bow Before the King Christmas Concert, a captivating event showcasing the talents of TLFC choirs, ensembles, and musicians, including a beautiful performance by the bell choir.

The lineup featured violinist Katherine Burton and recording artist Donald Ashley & Millennium. Commencing the concert, the choir initiated its traditional processional, setting the tone with the uplifting melody of “He Reigns Forever.” Serving as the Master of Ceremony, TLFC’s Minister Claude Hightower infused a unique dynamism into the worship experience, creating an atmosphere of reverence and joy.

The choir delighted the audience with a medley comprising “Joy to the World,” “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” and “O Come All Ye Faithful.” Each song was arranged in a beautifully melodic manner that kept attendees on their feet and hands in the air worshipping God.

Despite the uncertainty caused by a rainstorm, attendees persevered, turning up in impressive numbers to partake in the festive celebration.

The TLFC Children’s Choir, radiating adorableness, uplifted spirits with their rendition of “Go Tell it on the Mountain,” followed by an urban-infused version of “We Three Kings” performed by the energetic TLFC Youth Choir. The men’s ensemble delivered a soul-stirring performance of “His Name is Jesus,” while the women captivated the audience with the cherished classic, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”

Hailing from Delaware, Donald Ashley & Millennium immediately connected with the audience, delivering a powerful performance that resonated with everyone in attendance. Ashley showcased his talent by singing a set of original music, skillfully blending in a well-known hymn, “Blessed Assurance,” seamlessly transitioning into the beloved Fred Hammond favorite, “Bread of Life.”

In a thoughtful touch, Ashley introduced a song he humorously classified as the “55 and up” song, recognizing the appreciation that older individuals would have for its message, beat, and tone. He concluded his set with a call for the youth to participate in a song that intricately weaved contemporary music elements into a message of hope and Good News.

Donald Ashley, truly had something for every generation in the audience.

Following Ashley’s set, it was the combined choir’s turn to leave a lasting impression. Led by TLFC’s David Scott and Trina Caldwell, “Before the King” and “Proclaim the Glory of the Lord” were the perfect ending to a great evening of worship and praise. As is tradition in TLFC Christmas concerts, the evening wouldn’t be complete without an altar call conducted by Minister Bill Gordon. Pastor Morris Scott, the Minister of Music, and Sr. Pastor Dr. Wesley Pinnock then shared closing remarks, marking the end of another successful annual event.

The anticipation for the next year is already palpable as this cherished tradition continues to elevate and captivate audiences, with people eagerly looking forward to the 2024 edition.
