I had the opportunity to interview Slick da King live during his book release event. The event was super classy and filled with juicy nuggets. The mix and mingle with author Slick da King featured a panel of creatives sharing their behind-the-biz stories on all things reality T.V., media, and life. Panelists included: Ayana, The Passion Strategist, who also served as the moderator; Tyrone G, Kendra Hall, Tee Goodwin, Odessa White, and Jae Spice. The event was captured with amazing photo and video coverage by Sherine Tate of Tate Digital.Â
Slick is spilling the secrets, get to know him, and what led him into the world of reality T.V.
Shelly Shell: How did you get into the Reality T.V. Blogger space, and what have been some of your favorite REAL SHOWS to follow?
Slick da King: After attending the filming of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, somehow, I began receiving invitations to reality T.V. events like premieres and Cable T.V. Network events all around ATL. And I started meeting people and always being in the mix. I was a HUGE reality T.V. fan, and because I was suddenly thrown into that world, my social media friends and followers would ask me for the tea. And one day, I realized that I truly had a good honest to God scoop on the Atlanta reality T.V. scene. So with one of my good friend’s help, she was already blogging, and I started Slicktalk4real.
I love almost all of the Housewives shows, especially Atlanta, Potomac, and New York. I also love Married to Medicine and Basketball Wives…just too many to mention!
Shelly Shell: What about Reality T.V. excites you, and who are some of your favorite reality T.V. stars to this day?
Slick da King: Like most people, I love a good Cinderella story. And that is at the heart of most Atlanta-based reality shows. Most weren’t born with a silver spoon in their mouths. So we get a chance to watch them grow and many times become wealthy. It’s interesting to see how they handle their newfound fame and navigate through their lives.
I love Nene Leakes, Porsha Williams, Phaedra Parks. Can you tell I love vintage #RHOA! I also live for all the Married to Medicine ladies Josephine Hernandez, Melody Holt, and I love me some Dorinda Medley.
