Annual Unity in the Community Day

Reading Time: 2 minutes

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Sheriff Rochelle Bilal, the Office of the Philadelphia Sheriff, Laborers’ District Council 57, in conjunction with community partners, corporations, nonprofit organizations, and other city agencies hosted its Unity in the Community Day on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Ardella’s House, 2400 N. 33rd Street. This was a rain-or-shine event, and on this particular day, the weather was rainy. Despite the weather, many residents still came out and enjoyed the day that featured offerings for all community members and their families: including children’s activities, live performances by the Camden Sophisticated Sisters, and free food for all.

“In these times of uncertainty, when we are beset by an epidemic of gun violence, the continuing threat of COVID-19, and the fraying of our very social fabric, an event like this – where we can all come together and enjoy being around each other, helping each other, connecting with each other again–is a necessary part of regaining and strengthening our people, our community and our city. I thank all of those who stepped up and stepped forward to help us make this a successful event, and all of the Philadelphians from across the city who joined us to experience just what makes this the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection.” – Sheriff Rochelle Bilal.
