Additional financial support provided to local college students

PHILADELPHIA, August 9, 2021 – Beech Companies recently provided $13,000 dollars to students attending Community College of Philadelphia, Cheyney University, Lincoln University, and Temple University. 

Thanks to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, many students are receiving financial relief from tuition and other costs associated with attending college. Beech Companies is joining this effort to help students of color attend and graduate from higher education. 

“Now more than ever, we have to support funding and other services to students as we all work our way through this pandemic,” states Dr. Kenneth Scott, President of Beech Companies. “Having public and government institutions come together to support this effort will help make sure all students who want a higher education can access it.” 

The Beech Scholarship Fund was established by Beech Companies in honor of Beech Companies four founders, Dr. Bernard C. Watson, John Haas, F. Otto Haas, and Floyd W. Alston. Recipients of the Beech Scholarship Fund are as follows: 

· Melanie Bullock – Temple University 

· Lynetta Ferguson – Temple University 

· Zion Harris – Lincoln University 

· Tiana Johnson – Temple University 

· Nathan Little – Temple University 

· Larry Mapp III – Cheyney University 

· Andera Martin – Lincoln University 

· Troy Pittman – Temple University 

· Lauren Ross – Temple University 

· Kynoebi Simpson-Hankins – Temple University 

· Brooklyn Stanback – Community College of Philadelphia 

· Saul Williams – Temple University

About the Beech Scholarship Fund 

The Beech Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to deserving and qualifying minority students. The scholarships are in honor of Beech’s founders, Dr. Bernard C. Watson, John C. Haas, F. Otto Haas, and Floyd W. Alston. The funding commitment from the Beech Scholarship Fund sets a criterion that includes having a grade point average of 2.75 or higher, declaring a major in either Arts, Business, Engineering, or Education, and are active in extra-curricular activities through their school, church, community or work.
