A Village in our Backyard

Reading Time: 2 minutes

My SCOOP USA MEDIA FAMILY,
Praises Be! I’ve been truly overwhelmed by many Families and Friends moving on to Glory and creating many issues and, at times, unbearable pain and hardships! Nonetheless, We must press forward and stay encouraged! This Week, I am dedicating My Writing, My Sharing in Honor To Yvette Potter, Our Earth Angel Who, In My Eyes, Is The Closest Thing To The Heavens Above I Know Or Even Can Imagine. Her Humbleness, Caring, Loving, Serving, and Faithfulness are nothing short of Godsent. Thanks, Cous, for allowing Me To Witness “The Mystic and Wonderous Poured In One of Our Own!” Wow, My Brothers and Sisters, Ladies and Gentlemen, please understand the impromptu of the Spiritual Infused Moment. Thank You!
Wow, Wow, Wow! Now, My Sharing Today ~ ~ ~
A VILLAGE IN OUR BACKYARD
My Friends and Family, today I would love to bring to light a ‘Diamond In The Rough” in a place where You never could imagine. Ladies and Gentlemen, One Art Community Center is a Jewel Of Real And Pure Cultural significance. It is a rare Urban Farm Complex in the backyards of the 1400 block of North 52nd Street. I ran across this monstrosity and historic growth-producing Community/People Developmental Enterprise by attending the ecoWURD>ecoFEST Environmental Justice Event! What-a-Day of powerful social>economical>political community promotions and understanding of ecological sustainability and People of Color survival. There were Panel Discussions/Focus Groups and several other activities going on simultaneously, from Cooking Demonstrations, Farming Clinics, visiting the Informational Tables and Space To Walk Around and Chill. Others were feeding the chickens and hens, grooming the horses, and exploring and looking at the many pieces of Art! When I arrived, there were two young Brothers standing at the entrance of the alley. You must walk through to enter this Community Eden! I chatted with the two of them, and amazingly, they were Co-Founders of Partnerships within this phenomenal Community Urban Conglomerate. Brother Stanley Morgan ~ Co-founder of Re-entry Community Farm, a Black-led farm of Urban Farmers formed from Individuals Returning from the Carceral System. Their focus is to build a welcoming situation for those who are interested in Urban Farming! There have been approximately 60+ individuals involved, and have moved on to greater ventures, including opening their own businesses! Presently, 15 Urban Settlers are on board, pushing forward this rare and unique opportunity. Brother Stanley said it’s purposeful that the WURD ecoFEST has brought to the forefront “Community Environmental Justice Initiatives,” giving the many Grassroots Eco ideologies an opportunity to come together and create a platform for information sharing/Promotional Development. We Thank WURD for this wonderful experience because We must become more ecologically informed.
