Because SCOOP USA Media Newspaper readers are so on-point, I feel confident that you all know there are some special elections on the ballot this Tuesday, November 8th.
For the sake of people who perhaps are new to reading the SCOOP or who may have honestly, simply missed the fact that there are a number of special elections on November 8th, let me share information about who these candidates are and the seats they will fill.
**********
I’ll start with the 7th Councilmanic district. Esteemed City Councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez resigned from her council seat earlier this Fall. In her resignation, to his credit, Philadelphia City Council President Darrell Clarke felt there were enough critical things happening in city council every day that he needed to get that vacant seat filled ASAP. Quetcy Lozada was selected by Ward Leaders in the 7th Council District to run as a Democrat in the Special election which Councilman Clarke set to take place on the same date as the regularly scheduled general election, November 8th. All the candidates I interviewed, I asked the same questions.
Quetcy Lozada, (D) Candidate,
7th Council District
Here are Quetcy Lozada’s responses: Did you see this coming, becoming a candidate for a political office? “I didn’t see it coming. I’ve worked for city government for Councilwoman Sanchez as her chief of staff for about 12 years. There was always a plan for the Councilwoman and what she was planning to do. Everything happened quickly, and I had no idea I would get the support of Congressman Bob Brady and the Democratic City Committee. I’m honored and looking forward to working smart on Council. One of the things I would be very interested in working on, will be to make things better is more education reform for our schools. Born and raised in the 7th Council district.”
Having earned her wings as a respected community organizer, Lozada appears to have a pretty impressive career in her future.
