Chester Omegas celebrate 50 years of service

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Brothers of the Epsilon Pi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. celebrated fifty years of service with a full weekend with a variety of activities featuring a black tie banquet on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Harrah’s Casino and Race Track in Chester Pa. Originally charted in Media Pennsylvania on March 23, 1973, the chapter became dormant for a few years. However, in the spring of 1981, the chapter was reactivated by a group of dedicated and far-sighted brothers who committed to moving the chapter to Chester and focusing on making the city its primary service area.

The Saturday evening banquet included paying homage to the original charter members, several of whom were in attendance, reading resolutions from the City of Chester, and acknowledgments from other civic and fraternal organizations. The chapter provided its history and cited each line that was initiated into the fraternity through Epsilon Pi Chapter since its chartering.

Deceased members of the chapter were recognized, and distinguished members were acknowledged and shown genuine appreciation for their outstanding and lengthy service to the chapter, fraternity, and community. Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to: the Honorable Nathaniel Nichols, Clifton J. Smith Sr., Dr. Derek L. Davis Sr., and Harrison Potts, and special recognition Scholarship and Uplift awards were presented to Donzelle Tiller and Bryant Greene, respectively.
