Supply and Demand!
Over the years, or at least in school, we became familiar with supply and demand, but do we know how it ties to inflation? Do we know how policies affect supply and demand? Do we know how media coverage affects supply and demand? Do we know how to prepare for when the inflation rate gets high? We must learn what we are dealing with and how every decision we make today shapes our tomorrow. We must learn how to come together with our family and people in the community to help others. We must learn how to buy in bulk and break down with other people to save money. We must learn how to stretch the dollar, buy off-season, at the change of seasons or second-hand items, so that we can save up to 80%. Please make a list of the items you need to run your household every month, and then look for coupons and sales in different store circulars or online to maximize the coupon. Please keep in mind there are thousands of people in your area that need the same things. This is why we should pay attention to Supply and Demand, so we will know what to buy first.
According to the indeed.com website, “The law of supply and demand is the economic relationship between the sellers and the buyers of various commodities.” The supply and demand theory states that the price of a product de- pends on its availability and buyer demand. If the product has a high price, the seller will supply more of it to the market.”
We had some recent experiences when it came to masks and gloves. They tripled in price during the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, if you could find them. Also, toilet paper and paper towels prices went up and were limited to one per customer, but some stores ran out. Now there is a gas shortage because a pipeline was hacked and had to be shut down. According to the news, it is back up and run- ning now. However, the price of gas has increased–more than one dollar per gallon from a year ago in some places and it is expected to go up because of the demand. On the East Coast, some gas stations have run out of gas and others have long lines, while tensions are very high.
There are many commodities like lumber and corn that have increased, which affects various industries. Also, the cost of food is slowly increasing, and many items are not on the shelves.
What are we headed for? The Bible says, “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14)
If we want to avoid a drought and the effect of inflation due to bad policies, we need to obey God (Allah). Remember the Bible talks about a great and dreadful day, great for the Believers, but dreadful for the wicked!
God (Allah) is in demand! The people of God (Allah) are in demand! The people of God (Allah) need to serve others! The people of God (Allah) need to always have a kind word to share! The people of God (Allah) must defend the truth! The people of God (Allah) must live by His word! The people of God (Allah) must not obey Satan! The people of God (Allah) must strive to be a light in this dark world!
If we want God (Allah) to heal our land, we have to follow his instructions. He told us to “Turn from our wicked ways.” What is hindering us from bowing down to God (Allah)? Unfortunately, religion, your belief system is regulated by the supply and demand
law! What? Yes, most people pray when they are in trouble and try to bargain with God (Allah) for relief. It is so much easier to submit and know we are nothing without God (Allah). We need Him like we need air!
On Thursday, May 13, 2021, in Chester, PA in celebration of Eid Mubarak, members of the Chester Study Group showed some love in the community by giving out a bag of fruit, a bag of vegetables, a gallon of water, and The Final Call newspaper. It was beautiful, and the people were very receptive! All Praises are due to Allah! Brothers and Sisters that fast, get a blessing for fasting, and to be charitable is a good deed! Insha’Allah (Be it the will of Allah) We will go out in the community again soon! The Holy Qur’an says, “By the time! Surely man is in loss, except those who believe and do good, and exhort one another to Truth, and exhort one another to patience.” (103:1- 3)
