Let me be very clear, Covid is still here, and medical experts are still encouraging people to get immunized. For those that already got a Covid immunization, medical experts are encouraging them to get their booster shots. It’s as simple as that. Covid is still here, along with all of its variants.
James Garrow, Director of Communications for the City of Philadelphia Department of Health, a recent guest on the Inside SCOOP radio program, had this to say about Covid. “Some folks need to be brought back to reality a little bit. Covid is not gone. It is still making folks sick. It is still putting people in the hospital. It is still killing people. I think the difference is that what we’re seeing now is that it’s not as bad as it used to be, which is an ‘a good thing.’ That means a lot of folks are protected and a little bit safer than they were before. But the fact of the matter is that there are still people who are getting sick. We’re at a very unique point in the Pandemic because people used to go and have it get the PCR test, the one you have to send away for, and it would take a couple of days for you to hear back whether you were positive or not for Covid. Now there’s testing at home, and we don’t see all of those test results, so the numbers in terms of how many people are getting sick each day, we know just a small subset of the number of people. It’s definitely not as many people being tested who are positive for Covid, a sit was in January 2021 or January 2022, and the numbers were much higher. We are nowhere near where we were back then.”
