Where is our Vision

Reading Time: < 1 minute

“Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law happy is he.” Proverbs 29:18

In the English language, many of the words we use come from other languages, perspectives, or cultures. Etymology is the study of the origin and history of words; many of the words we use today have meanings that have changed or been altered over the years. Often we take existing words and give them totally different meanings–like when Black people say, “that’s a bad man,” we mean he’s really good.

When reading books that have been translated numerous times over time, often the original wording has been altered to fit the current ideas or to make the context clearer or, in many cases, to distort, confuse or hide the true meaning and intent of the words as they were originally written.

Before we discuss the topic of vision, it is important we first know what the word vision means and see examples of its various uses. Here are several definitions of the word vision:

“(v.) The act of seeing external objects; actual sight.

The faculty of seeing; sight; one of the five senses, by which colors and the physical qualities of external objects are appreciated as a result of the stimulating action of light on the sensitive retina, an expansion of the optic nerve.
