On June 16-18, Indie Go Inspire and Merge Music Group is hosting the Power Up! Virtual Music Conference. Partners Patrice DeLisser (Indie Go Inspire), Roderick Jemison, and Sherri Y. Johnson (Merge Music Group) are excited to host an event that caters to building successful indie
artists. The three-night zoom event features experts teach- ing on wide-ranging topics including Branding, Marketing, Sales, Worship, and Podcasting. A designated room (The “Spin” Room) for indie artists to present their project be- fore music industry professionals serves as the flagship opportunity to get up close and personal with radio programmers.
The conference kicks off on Wednesday, June 18 at 8 pm EST with Dr. D. of Brooklyn, New York (The Original Gospel Deejay/WFNK Radio Host) spinning some of the best hit songs with his special blend of mixes. The opening session highlights the relevance of “Urban Music in a Growing and Diverse genre of Gospel” with national recording artist Da’ T.R.U.T.H. followed by a session on “How to Maximize Merchandise Sells” (virtually and in- person). Finally, the “Spin” room’s host Ed Long (WDAS) will guide the conversation that evening featuring Fred Blain (Gospel Highway 11), Robyn McCollum (Gospel Highway 11), Tracy Morgan (The Tracy Morgan Show), Pam Dixon (WEAM Radio), and Karen Rogers (WIMG Radio).
Thursday’s session will focus on branding from a graph- ics perspective with expert Fatima Burke (Sr. Art Director for Root Magazine) and securing award recognition from top national award productions with industry tastemakers Jackie Patillo (Exec. Dir. Gospel Music Association/GMA Foundation) and Dennis Cole (Central City Productions – Stellar Radio Awards).
Closing out the conference on Friday is recording artist Benita Jones with a masterclass on the “Relevance of Worship in a Virtual World,” followed by the hottest virtual spring concert of the season featuring national recording artist Lecrae. The concert emcees are syndicated radio hosts, Those Baxters!
