PHILADELPHIA – On Thursday, December 15, 2022, Philadelphia Register of Wills Tracey L. Gordon, Community Legal Services, Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Philadelphia Bar Association came together to kick off the Register’s Wills Workshop Series. The first workshop in the series was held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 6150 Cedar Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143, in Southwest Philadelphia.
In addition to announcing the workshops, this program also served as the offical launch of a major initiative aimed at helping residents of Philadelphia protect generational wealth and promote financial security in their communities.
The purpose of this event is to increase education and awareness of estate planning and wealth building for families. Studies show that while over 50% of Americans recognize the benefits associated with estate planning, only 33% actually have a will or living trust. The Register’s Wills Workshop aims to fill this gap by providing a robust package of resources and support for Philadelphians looking to learn more about setting up wills and living trusts. Register Tracey L. Gordon encourages all Philadelphians to create a Will and take advantage of this workshop. Participants will gain greater peace of mind knowing their loved ones are cared for; and generational wealth is passed on.
The Honorable Tracey L. Gordon, Register of Wills, the office of the Register of Wills, and the Clerk of the Orphans’ Court serve Philadelphia residents through the issuance of marriage licenses, probating wills, will record keeping, and estate inventory records. The Register also serves as an agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for filing and payment of inheritance taxes. Sending over $120 million annually to the Commonwealth, the Office of Register of Wills serves as a critical office for both city and state.
