The virtual event will introduce Philadelphians to the skills needed to successfully manage grief and loss during the holiday season

PHILADELPHIA – Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson (At-Large) announced that she will host her third annual Managing Grief and Loss During the Holidays event. The virtual event will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22 via Zoom.

In light of Philadelphia’s gun violence epidemic and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will introduce Philadelphians to the resources and skills needed to successfully manage grief and loss during the holiday season. The event is in partnership with Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) note that mental health plays a key role in a person’s overall health. Individuals experiencing poor mental health, such as depression, have an increased risk for physical health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.
