In Pennsylvania Voters did the Darn Thing

Reading Time: 2 minutes

I am proud to say that in Pennsylvania voters showed up, and they showed out on Tuesday, November 8th, Mid-Term election day in America.

All along I felt that Democrat Josh Shapiro was going to win the Governor’s seat. His opponent had too many close ties to Donald Trump, as did Dr. Mehmet Oz in my opinion. That’s why I think, Pennsylvania’s Lt. Governor will be sworn in on January 29, 2023, as the new U.S. Senator from the keystone state. I think that Pennsylvania voters weighed everything out and at the end of the day, felt Fetterman was a better choice despite having had a stroke. Keeping in mind that this was a Republican seat, perhaps with Fetterman’s victory winning, the Senate can remain in Democratic control. However, because of the run-off election that has to take place on December 6th in Georgia for the Raphael Warnock/Herschel Walker race for the U.S. Senate, we’re still not yet certain whether Republicans or Democrats will have control of the U.S. Senate in 2023. The election between Democratic incumbent U.S. Senator Warnock and former NFL player Herschel Walker was so close on November 8th that a run-off election had to be scheduled.

I am pleased as a voter that Josh Shapiro has won the Governor’s seat, keeping the state of Pennsylvania as a “blue” state. Based on his performance as PA State Attorney General–I find Shapiro to be a strong decisive leader. I like that. I may not agree with all of his policies, but I think Shapiro will do a great job as Governor of Pennsylvania, and I wish him well. I am equally pleased that for the first time in the history of Pennsylvania, we’ll now have an African American Lt. Governor. His name is Austin Davis.

Here’s some background information on the man who will be sworn in, in January as Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania. Rep. Austin Davis took the oath of office to serve the people of the Mon Valley on February 5, 2018. When he was sworn in, Davis became the first African American to serve as state representative for the 35th Legislative District in Allegheny County.
