Since the beginning of time, whenever man established a nation, country, or kingdom, he also developed a Military Force to protect that kingdom from enemies and, if necessary, back that Government in enforcing its law. When we read the Scriptures and the pages of history, we find that many nations have been established throughout man’s existence on this earth, and every one of them had a “Military Force.” Webster tells us that these military forces are men and women trained and armed for war!
Now, America’s Military Force propagates the philosophy that “It’s a Great Place to Start” and is headed by Uncle Sam, who is the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff!
It is broken up into 4-major divisions namely…
-The Army for ground tactics with the motto, “Be All You Can Be!”
-The Navy for sea and air tactics with the motto, “It’s Not Just a Job, But an Adventure!”
-The Marines for specialized ground tactics with the motto, “The Few, The Proud, The Marines!”
And the Air Force for air tactics and support for the others, with the motto, “A Great Way of Life, So Aim High!”
Now the requirements to get into these different branches of the military vary, but basically, they are the same.
– You must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
– Then you go thru a series of written tests.
– Then you go thru a series of physical tests.
And if you meet all these requirements, you then go thru more written and physical testing for 6 to 16 weeks, which is called “Basic Training.” Upon completion, you become a full-fledged member.
A man or woman trained to be wounded, trained to take the pain, trained to follow orders. And all your training is based on the military law book known as the “Uniform Code of Military Justice.” As a soldier, you are expected to read, know and live according to the dictates of this book.
