Help A Single Parent hosts Back to School event

Reading Time: < 1 minute

NORRISTOWN, August 28, 2022—Many parents ponder the bottom line as they look at their children’s school supply list. Choosing which supplies to buy each year becomes something of a blindfolded game, and sometimes items are left out.

The founder of ‘Help a Single Parent,’ Michael Scott, wanted to address this issue for his community of Norristown, PA. At the third annual Help a Single Parent Event, the Help a Single Parent Foundation and other community members passed out Book Bags full of school supplies to those who needed them.

The smell of the grill filled the air as summertime tunes created a vibe that everyone could enjoy. The kids spent hours on the bouncy house as parents were able to collect information from vendors such as the Norristown NAACP and Montgomery County’s Office of Public Health. The choir of the Siloam Baptist Church blessed the event with gospel songs. Pearly whites were all over the park as the day concluded. Parents smiled in relief as the burden of school supplies faded. And another day filled with food, fun, and laughter kept the children smiling all the way home. There is nothing truer than the adage, “it takes a village to raise a child” following this August Sunday. Thank you, Michael and Katrina Scott, for your contributions to the community. We look forward to more this Christmas as Help a Single Parent will be back again to help those who need it in their community.
