Whitney M. Young, Jr. Powerbroker Awards

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Whitney M. Young Powerbroker Awards was a can’t-miss fundraiser for young professionals who honored community champions for their accomplishments in education, youth development, business, housing health, justice, and civic engagement in the Greater Philadelphia area.

The PowerBroker Award is named after Young, a civil rights leader and executive director of the National Urban League (1961-71). The event was an opportunity for those 21 to 44 years old to reconnect with peers (after the pandemic pause) through networking in a low-pressure environment. It also demonstrated a commitment to philanthropy and professional development.

This networking opportunity for young professionals reflected event organizer NExT (the Network of Extraordinary Talent) Philadelphia’s commitment to philanthropy, economic empowerment, career development, and supporting direct services that improve lives in the Philadelphia area.

NExT Philadelphia is the Urban League of Philadelphia’s Young Professional Group for members ages 21 to 44. The organization develops, educates, and encourages young professionals to take leadership roles within The Urban League of Philadelphia, the civil rights movement, and the larger community.
