As folks continue to talk about the backlash from Will Smith’s slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars, from resigning from the Academy, canceling contracts, and comments from many celebrities, friends and family… I am still a big fan of Will Smith and pray for his healing.
Once again, I must mention that his performance in the film “King Richard” was phenomenal. In King Richard, Smith portrays the father of tennis greats Venus and Serena Williams. Venus Williams was number one in both singles and doubles at a young age. She is often referred to as one of the world’s all-time greats of the sport. And then there is Serena who proved her skills, winning championships and dominating the court.
Just recently, Tennis champ Serena Williams announced that she is planning a tennis comeback this year. At the Bitcoin conference in Miami, Williams posted a video with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to her Instagram story expressing that the two of them were discussing her comeback. Williams said, “He’s been hyping me up and getting me ready for Wimbledon.”
Expect to see Serena Williams competing at Wimbledon on July 8th. Williams has won seven times but hasn’t played tennis professionally since she withdrew from Wimbledon last year following a leg injury in her first-round match.
Brace yourself for Idris Elba in the thriller “Three Thousand Years Of Longing” which hits theaters on August 31st. Dr. Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic – content with life, and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom.
