WOAR GOES VIRTUAL BY SINGING OUT LOUD TO STAMP OUT SEXUAL ASSAULT DURING 20TH ANNIVERSARY SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH

Philadelphia, PA (April 22, 2021) In support of April is the 20th Anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, WOAR (WOMEN ORGANIZED AGAINST RAPE), Philadelphia’s ONLY Rape crisis center will host it’s an annual fundraiser virtually on Thursday, April 22, 2021 @ 6:00pm – 7:00pm to raise funds to eradicate sexual violence. 

Appropriately titled, “Sing Out Loud – Singing for Survival” to stamp out sexual assault will feature the Incomparable and Barnes Foundation Deputy Director of Audience Engagement & Chief Experience Officer, Valerie Gay along with an array of voices from various organizations in the Philadelphia region. Those in attendance will see an all-star Sing Out Loud Chorale exhibiting a unified, powerful voice through the silence surrounding the issue of sexual violence. “WOAR is proud to bring a chorus of survivors, friends, community advocates, and partners who will use their hearts and voices to raise funds for Philadelphia’s ONLY rape crisis center. This is truly an honor and added bonus as we celebrate the 20thAnniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and our inaugural Sing Out Loud fundraiser,” said, Dr. Monique Howard, Executive Director of WOAR.  

Each year as part of its fundraising efforts, WOAR highlights champions who make a difference in the fight against rape and sexual assault. This year’s Inaugural Sing Out Loud award recipients continue to inspire the Philadelphia community – WOMEN’S WAY and Gender Justice Fund. WOMEN’S WAY’s mission is to advance gender equity for all women and girls. Gender Justice Fund robust mission is to end the political and economic inequalities facing women and girls in Greater Philadelphia. “Each awardee is being recognized for their commitment and tireless efforts to stem the tide of sexual assault, I extremely proud,” said Dr. Howard.
